Terracon Consultants, Inc., (Terracon) is a national engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides integrated services to a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.

Terracon is seeking a
Staff or Senior Staff level Industrial Hygienist to join our Asheville, North Carolina environmental department.

This position would be part of a very skilled team that performs airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality surveys, asbestos and lead based paint surveys, safety audits, and other activities.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct predemolition building surveys and oversee asbestos abatement activities for various projects.
  • Support assessment, remediation, and/or compliance activities for other projects in the field and office.
  • Provide subcontractor oversight.
  • Prepare technical reports and work plans.
  • Support senior staff with the management of large and complex tasks to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Assist during proposal development, including preparation of work scopes and budgets.
  • Travel on shortterm assignments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science, chemistry, or safety related field.
  • Minimum 13 years' experience in environmental consulting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills allowing for positive internal, client, and contractor relationships.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred.
  • 46 years of experience in industrial hygiene or safety related field with progressive levels of responsibility.
  • 40hour HAZWOPER certificate (with an uptodate 8hour annual refresher course certification).
  • Current AHERA accreditation as an asbestos inspector with preference given to applicants with current NC, TN, or SC license(s).
  • Knowledge of state (SCDHEC, NCDEQ, GA EPD, TDEC) and Federal regulations (NESHAP, etc.)
  • Master's degree preferred.
