Overview

We are seeking an outgoing, creative-minded email marketing expert with at least three years of experience managing all aspects of email marketing for an e-commerce brand. The ideal candidate will be responsible for writing emails, creating newsletters, conducting promotions, strategizing with the marketing team, and the overall management of email communications for our brand.

We are looking for someone who has created content, developed an email strategy, generated leads, improved email engagement, and made data-driven decisions based on KPIs and best practices. As our email marketing manager, you will work with our team of creative pros and marketers to develop a comprehensive email strategy to drive our business growth initiatives.

Live Bearded is a fast-paced, dynamic e-commerce company based in Tempe, AZ, and developing a cohesive email strategy with outstanding content that drives results is critical to our success. Founded in 2016 by two best friends, Spencer and Anthony started Live Bearded to help Beardsmen look, feel, and be their best. At LB, we love to have fun, support each other, and, most importantly, support our customers. Over the last 8 years, we've had the privilege of serving hundreds of thousands of Beardsman from all over the world, and we are just getting started.

Our goal with email marketing is to create, curate, and send content that gets opened, expands our brand awareness, drives engagement, and leads to conversion turning email subscribers into customers and raving fans. As a brand, we have three pillars of content that guide our content efforts. We want to educate, entertain, and encourage.

First, we want to educate our community on all things related to men's grooming. Then we want to entertain them with fun lifestyle content (aka brotherly ball-bustin and some good old-fashioned shenanigans), and finally, we want to encourage them with mindset and personal development content.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of our email marketing manager might include: reviewing past campaign performance and split test results, creating/curating compelling content, planning and developing email campaigns, scheduling new content series, working on lead generation strategies to build our list, or optimizing existing flows for better performance. You also analyze best performers, track KPIs, look for trends, and connect with the team to further develop winning campaigns. Email is our most profitable sales channel and is responsible for around 45% of our overall revenue. The channel is very successful but we know we can do better and we need the perfect team member and email marketing specialist to help us take everything to the next level. Heres an outline of everything you must do:

Master Klaviyo & Study Trends

  • We use Klaviyo as our email marketing platform and you will need to be a subject matter expert on all things Klaviyo, and email marketing as a whole. You must understand how to monitor and improve our open rates, click-through rates, and deliverability rates as well as study the email marketing industry as a whole and stay up to date with trends and changes.

Create Content

  • As our email marketing manager, you will be required to write our email content in our brand voice, speak as the brand, and develop content ideas and series. You must have great writing skills and be capable of learning and writing in our brand voice.

Campaign Creation & Optimization

  • We send 2-3 campaigns every week and you would be responsible for creating these campaigns, improving them, and developing new ideas and concepts to improve our overall email performance. These campaigns share content our team has created and typically drive traffic back to our blog at We have a full in-house creative team for social media content, but our focus on email has been lacking and we want to take everything we do to the next level. You will be responsible for managing our campaigns and improving our overall send and content strategy specifically for email.

Flow Creation & Optimization

  • We currently have between 10 and 15 active flows based on customer buying habits, shopping behaviors, and lead generation efforts. You will be responsible for auditing our flows, finding ways to optimize and improve them, and creating a better customer experience with our emails.

Product Launches & Promotions

  • Product launches and promotions are the most critical thing we do at LB. From new products to seasonal-inspired fragrances and sale events like Father's Day and Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas You would be responsible for managing and executing all of our email marketing sales strategies to ensure. Email generates about 45% of our total revenue and the majority of that revenue comes from our promotions. You must be able to optimize and improve our launches so that we can continue to learn and grow.

Develop Email Newsletter

  • We would like to develop a men's lifestyle newsletter to create a new email product for our customers that is fun, engaging, and focused on the experience of being a man in the world today. The frequency will most likely be weekly and would be branded as The Beardsmen.

Track Analytics & KPIs

  • You need to be able to track all the KPIs of our email marketing efforts and work to learn, grow, and optimize our entire email ecosystem through data-informed decisions.

List Building

  • You will be responsible for working with our marketing team to develop lead-generation funnels and help increase the size and quality of our list. You must understand how to do list building, create email marketing funnels, and turn people into raving fan customers by developing cold lead funnels that run prospects into buyers and brand advocates.

SMS Marketing

  • In addition to all of our email marketing efforts, you will be responsible for managing and growing our SMS marketing efforts as well. Our current strategy has a large overlap between email and SMS and are looking for someone to manage email and our SMS sales channels together. We currently use Postscript for our SMS.

  • You have excellent communication skills and work well with a team of marketing professionals. You understand how to lead, guide, influence, and persuade our community to engage and take action. You can influence emotions, create connections, and develop brand loyalty.

  • You have a baseline knowledge of Klaviyo, Shopify, and other marketing tools related to running a Shopify store and selling online.
  • Minimum of three years of email marketing experience.
  • You must have high attention to detail, be highly organized, and be able to build operational systems.
  • You must be able to work from our office in Tempe, AZ from 9 to 5 Monday - Friday.
