LPN Position at Job Corps: Supporting Student Health

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) collaborates with the Registered Nurse (RN) to assess, plan, execute, and oversee healthcare for Job Corps students. This is a part-time role (approximately 10 hours per week).

Essential Functions
  • Assists in conducting health assessments for new students within specified timeframes.
  • Manages the daily H&W clinic operations including scheduling student appointments, providing routine care, monitoring bed rest patients, and maintaining health records.
  • Handles minor injuries and illnesses as per physician directives.
  • Administers medications following Job Corps Health Care Management Guidelines and state regulations. Ensures accurate documentation and secure storage of medications.
  • Collaborates with RN and doctor in treatments and communication with students and families.
  • Creates and implements nursing care plans based on patient needs and within scope of practice.
  • Reports health status changes promptly to medical staff.
  • Provides necessary adaptive equipment.
  • Maintains updated and HIPAA-compliant student health records while prioritizing privacy.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures, administers treatments, and preventive measures under RN guidance.
  • Ensures staff, students, and property accountability while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Participates in department meetings and PRH/Strategix training sessions.
  • Upholds a harassment-free environment.
  • Handles student data with confidentiality and follows Job Corps and Strategix policies regarding information security.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active LPN license in the center's state and one year of relevant experience.
  • Current CPR certification, strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively with young individuals.
  • Proficiency in information technology, including MS Office.

Preferred:

Four years of direct nursing experience.
