We are seeking a skilled LPN to join our team. The LPN will work under the direction of the RN Clinic Manager and utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills in the care of patients. The successful candidate will maintain standards of professional nursing practice in a clinical setting and be responsible for assisting the provider in the delivery of health care and patient care management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Active patient care team member: identifying and reporting to provider-specific patient needs including those required for the visit and for general health care concerns.
  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointments and collecting additional information such as lab results, imaging and ER reports as indicated from chart review. Assists team in care management as directed by provider.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room, taking a detailed history, obtaining, and recording vital signs.
  • Performs routine lab procedures, including basic phlebotomy. Assists providers with examinations and diagnostic procedures including EKG and Spirometry. Administers non-intravenous injections as ordered.
  • Maintains accurate patient documentation to include triage calls for urgent appointments, referrals for patient consults and testing, procedure results, insurance pre-certification, and medication refills.
  • Operating medical equipment and maintaining patient rooms, medical supplies, inventory, and disposal. Sterilizes all instruments as needed.
  • Participates in professional development activities as offered and required within the organization.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA guidelines, CLIA regulations, HIPAA medical privacy guidelines.
  • May use general office skills including keyboarding, office computer software, filing, answering telephones, email, faxing, copying and other duties as assigned.
  • Excellent customer service skills are needed for interacting with patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
  • Must have the ability to travel among assigned office locations.
Requirements:
  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current, unencumbered State of Kansas LPN licensure, or temporary permit to practice issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing required.
  2. CPR certification for Health Care Providers, is required or must be obtained within 90 days.
  3. Current vaccination record meeting ACIP Healthcare Workers Recommendations required.
  4. A minimum of one year of primary care setting experience is preferred.
  5. FQHC experience preferred.
  6. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
