Job Title: Transit Project ManagerCompany: METRO
Basic Function:

Responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction phases of a significant transit project valued over $1B. Manages project execution by METRO staff, consultants, and contractors to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and budget, aiming to achieve project milestones while maintaining quality standards and compliance with policies and procedures.

Represents METRO in coordination meetings with partner agencies, utility companies, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring duties are performed safely and efficiently.


Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
  • Manages and approves work by consultants, contractors, and third parties to meet project milestones.
  • Prepares and maintains a Risk Register, collaborating with management to mitigate risks and manage contingencies.
  • Ensures all work complies with regulatory standards, codes, and contractual agreements.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities, assesses options, and evaluates change orders.
  • Oversees team performance, monitors project progress, and manages budget expenditures.
  • Coordinates with various entities, prepares agreements, and reports on construction quality.
  • Develops staffing plans, makes presentations, and secures project funding approval.
  • Promotes safety awareness, resolves project issues, and delivers excellent customer service.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.


Years & Experience Required:

Minimum twenty years of progressive project management experience, including managing large transit projects. Experience in multi-modal transport projects, contract negotiation, and construction strategy development.


Knowledge & Skills Required:

Texas Professional Engineer license preferred. Strong negotiation skills, contract knowledge, and ability to work collaboratively. Capable of making logical decisions in complex scenarios.
