Under supervision, the Skilled Pipefitter performs manual work in the installation, modification, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of piping systems for various applications.

Essential Job Functions

• First-line supervision of assigned Pipefitters, planning, scheduling, directing, and inspecting their work
• Estimating material and labor requirements, checking received materials, requisitioning necessary items, and maintaining job records
• Working on piping systems by bending, cutting, fitting, welding, soldering, and brazing
• Troubleshooting and maintaining piping and controls related to HVAC systems
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing various components in pipeline systems
• Dealing with pneumatic process control systems

Other Job Functions

• Custody and care of trade tools
• Performing additional assigned duties

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of installing and maintaining piping systems, pneumatic process control, and HVAC systems
• Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skills in oxyacetylene torch use, welding, soldering, and blueprint interpretation
• Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and utilize trade tools and computers

One year of experience as a pipefitter
