Description

Primary Duties

  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux Diagnostics' Quality System.
  • Work with the Director to identify opportunities and execute strategies to drive the market access strategy to pursue coverage and reimbursement from US commercial payers and medical groups through field-based activities.
  • Profile regional, national payers, physician medical groups and HTAs to understand their decision-making processes and develop specific strategies incorporating economic and clinical data supporting the products' value proposition.
  • Work closely with bioMerieux Medical Affairs team to develop support information and data to better position bioMerieux's products in expanding market access.
  • Attend regional or national professional society and payer meetings/conferences as needed to educate current and potential customers on reimbursement issues and to gain support for market access through policy and/or clinical guideline development.
  • Work cross-functionally within field sales, sales leadership, strategic accounts, and marketing to maximize pull-through and leverage available resources for market access.
  • Travel with field sales team members to support and educate customers with identified reimbursement challenges and to gain support for payer education strategies.
  • Participate in regional and national sales meetings as needed.
  • May be assigned additional responsibilities based upon organizational needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Travel required regionally and nationally- 30%

Requirements

  • Bachelors required, in healthcare, advanced science, public health or allied healthcare preferred. A strong understanding of business management is preferred (MBA or MPH is a plus).
  • This position requires a HIPAA Certification or a completed HIPAA Certification within 1 month of position hire (certification will be paid by bioMerieux).
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in health insurance or managed care industry with demonstrated strong payer relationships building and account management experience.
  • Must possess 5+ years knowledge of provider network contracts, medical policy, health economics and health care policy; diagnostic experience preferred.
  • Must understand capitated physician medical groups model in California.
  • Must understand how to impact process with payers for obtaining coverage decisions and advancing medical policy with demonstrated success in obtaining coverage, access, reimbursement from health plans in prior roles.
  • Familiarity with the in vitro diagnostics and/or medical device industry
  • Ability to build and develop customer relationships including the ability to effectively represent BioMerieux and its products to senior levels of management and key thought leaders.
  • Experience in partnership models with health systems and payers.
  • Innovative thinking and exceptional business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of compliance-related concepts including the laws, regulations, and policies that govern marketing and sales activities and the importance of compliance in all job-related functions.
  • Ability to understand, distill and communicate complex scientific and public health-related concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in consultative selling situations/markets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
