Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFutureFuel Chemical Company is looking for a Temporary Insulator to join our P&I team to work on a new construction project. Insulators work under supervision of a team manager and perform a wide variety of skilled industrial insulator work related to the installation and repair of piping, equipment, and building facilities. An employee selected for this position agrees to enter a nationally licensed Insulator Apprenticeship Program with the majority of the study being conducted on their own (non-paid) time. Progress reviews documenting job growth, performance and attendance will be conducted at 16-week intervals. The Insulator Apprenticeship is a 4,000 hour (~2 year) program. FFCC Insulators are also required to assist with painting and coating activities.

For this position candidates must have successfully completed the FFCC pre-employment requirements including filling out a FutureFuel application and having a GED/school diploma.

Must have experience with general construction techniques required. Have specific experience with insulation and painting techniques and procedures. Job requires analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems. Must have the ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks. Must be strong in initiative, self-directed and committed to follow-through.

JOB DUTIES
1. Measures and cuts insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
2. Fits insulation around obstructions, and shapes insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
3.

Determines the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors suchas location, surface shape, and equipment use.

4. Installs sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws in order to protect the insulation from weatherconditions or physical damage.
5.

Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systemssuch as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.

6. Reads blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
7. Covers, seals, or finishes insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape,cement or asphalt mastic.
8.

Prepares surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or byattaching metal pins to surfaces.

9. Prepares surfaces for painting by brushing, scraping, cleaning, filling, sanding, or pressure washing.
10. Selects the appropriate painting and coatings based on application, physical conditions, and usage needs
11. Covers surfaces with drop cloths or tape to protect surfaces during painting.
12. Applies primer, paint, and sealers to cover surfaces as necessary.
13. Communicates effectively in order to perform essential functions of the job.
14. Performs other job duties as assigned as assigned by supervision.
15. Works inside and outside in varying degrees of weather and temperature conditions.
16. Completes required safety training as directed.
