Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patient. Provides direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.

  • Sign-on Bonus: \$15,000 sign-on bonus eligible position Provided the candidate meets the eligibility requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with one year Operating Room experience or participation in the post-graduate program required. Refresher course required for nurses who have not worked in an Operating Room for the past five years.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina. Certification in specialty required within one year. BCLS certification required. Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care. 2. Ensures complete, accurate and timely computerized communication of patient information. 3. Demonstrates cost containment activities. 4. Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner. 5. Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills Practice Innovation Resilient and flexible in a changing environment Standards of clinical nursing practice Systems for patient safety Technology/informatics skills Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases, hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes Possible exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation Handles emergency or crisis situation Subject to many interruptions, highly stressful and crowded/noisy conditions Required Protective Equipment: Eye/face protection, gown, mask, and gloves.
