THE POSITIONOur roster has an opening with your name on it

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Compute Operations engineering team in our Developer Lifecycle organization. The Compute Operations team works to create a scalable and reliable Compute substrate layer to support FanDuel's large-scale complex application microservice architecture across several dozen target deployment locations under unique geographic and regulatory constraints. This team defines our compute substrate layer, Kubernetes cluster management, VM based stateful workloads, and maintains compute infrastructure as code assets.

The ideal candidate will have the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to both learn from and educate others. In the role of Senior DevOps Engineer you will work amongst multidisciplinary teams, tackling complex problems to create world class infrastructure as we continuously build out our exciting and innovative developer experience.

  • Work on a platform engineering team which supports the development of performant and reliable applications across FanDuel.
  • Contribute to conversations to remove blockers and foster collaboration across teams
  • Collaborate with various cross-functional software engineering teams to enhance and unify our overarching engineering culture.
  • Translate overarching strategic goals into actionable and detailed plans that can be readily implemented by engineers.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency across the organization.
  • Champion standards and baselines for uplifting engineering across FanDuel.
  • Build and maintain a reliable and performant compute substrate layer that supports an efficient developer lifecycle for our engineers.
  • Embrace change and rapidly adapt.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and advocate for and implement improvements to the current state of projects - potentially having broader business impact across teams or products.
  • Approach tasks with a growth mindset and experiment with new approaches, learning, owning the outcomes, and sharing what you learned so that others can learn from it

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
  • Deep familiarity with hosting technologies Kubernetes, EC2, ECS, Lambda
  • Proficient experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, etc..
  • Experience in software development (e.g. Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, etc..)
  • Strong experience with delivering programs and projects via tools like Jira
  • Transform strategic objectives into actionable programs of work, leading to the execution of effective and successful outcomes
  • Proficient in developing applications related to Platform engineering, Infrastructure engineering, Devops, etc..
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably AWS with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
