Responsibilities:
- Perform various first assistant duties under physician supervision such as tissue dissection, vein harvesting, suturing, and hemostasis
- Function as a second assistant
- Prepare sterile supplies and maintain surgical equipment
- Participate in educational programs and other related duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed a Surgical First Assistant Program
- Five years of current operating room scrub and/or assisting experience
- Passed First Assistant Certification Examination
- Must possess professional communication skills, flexibility, and initiative
Essential Functions:
- Good communication skills, flexibility, and initiative
- Ability to stand for long periods, visual and auditory acuity, and manual dexterity
Working Conditions:
Work environment includes a surgical suite with exposure to various hazards.
Orientation Requirements:
Attendance of new employee and department orientation sessions.

Requirements:
- Certified BLS Provider with Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
- Preferred certification as a Certified First Surgical Assistant or Certified Surgical Tech
Education:
Completion of a recognized scrub technician college program preferred.
Work Experience:
Minimum of five years of current operating room scrub and/or assisting experience.
