Heat Relief Worker

LOCATION:
Chandler, AZ
STATUS: 2FT ($20 per Hour) and 10PT ($16 per Hour) Temporary positions ( Positions will run from May 1st Sept 30, 2024)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
- Able to maintain a nonjudgement attitude, professional approach and boundaries with clients
- Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless and to utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to assess at risk participants and situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Successful criminal background clearance
- Fingerprint clearance card required
- Must be 18 years old to apply
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor activities of heat relief participants, keeping visual and continuous interaction with clients
- Conduct client baggage check, remove and store weapons, tools and cell phones, return the same upon exit
- Set up/Tear down equipment and stock/restock supplies used
- Ensure compliance with program rules and expectations, maintaining a safe and manageable environment
- Handle signups for shower, laundry and clothing services, providing hygiene items and laundry soap
- Assist participants within the limits in processing issues and problem solving
- Monitor the smoking patio for appropriate usage and cleanliness
- Clean area during usage, mopping spills, sanitizing cots, wiping tables, and showers, making sure to follow CDC guidelines to ensure safety of participants and staff
- Provide accurate and through written communication in the (IR) Incident Report Logbook for management and Support Workers review
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the position of Heat Relief Worker
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.A qualified person with a disability may request a modification or adjustment to the job or work environment in order to meet the physical requirements of the position.
The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed is reasonable and no undue hardship would result.
