Senior Chiller Mechanic

About the position:

As a Senior Chiller Plant Mechanic focusing on large tonnage systems, you will play a critical role in the operation and maintenance of central plant equipment, working as part of a team. Located in a professional setting, your goal is to ensure client satisfaction and maintain 100% uptime of the building's systems. You will be tasked with safeguarding the value of the client's assets by ensuring building engineering systems operate effectively. This role includes implementing client maintenance standards, managing third-party maintenance providers, and overseeing overall system performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adapt to additional tasks based on business needs and evolving practices.
  • Follow Federal, State, local, and company policies related to regulatory compliance and safety.
  • Maintain documentation for the building's infrastructure and compliance, including updated building drawings and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and direct maintenance team members and third-party service providers.
  • Support team personnel and carry out assignments safely within your trained capabilities.
  • Respond to alarms, take necessary action to correct system operations, and communicate issues and resolutions.
  • Execute scheduled and documented preventive maintenance tasks as outlined in the CMMS.
  • Conduct routine and emergency repairs on various machinery, systems, and equipment, including electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
  • Manage chemical treatment, testing, and monitoring for steam, cooling towers, and water systems.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment and controls.
  • Perform skilled operations, repairs, and maintenance using comprehensive system knowledge.
  • Analyze system data, monitor controls, and make adjustments to anticipate and solve problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications. Ability to work independently or within a team. Capable of lifting 50 lbs., climbing ladders/scaffolding, bending/twisting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Competitive base salary with bonuses and full benefits. Company vehicle provided.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.
  • 5-10 years of experience with chiller and chiller plant operations are preferred.
  • Relevant licenses for HVAC, Universal Technician, or certified boiler operator as required by the region.
  • In-depth knowledge of building mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • 7-10 years of experience with plant equipment infrastructure and building automation systems, including programming and troubleshooting.
