Job Title: Energy Data Analyst at The Virginia Department of Energy, State Energy Office

Are you well-versed in current and emerging energy conservation resources, technologies, policies, and procedures? If you have a knack for data analysis, regulatory matters, and contract administration, then this could be the gig for you

Minimum QualificationsGeneral understanding of federal, state, and local policies as they relate to programsFamiliarity with data analysis principles, from cleaning and analyzing data to interpreting and presenting it through various approaches and business intelligence toolsCapability to convert raw data into informative statistics, information, and descriptionsAdept at receiving and acting on constructive feedback on design choices and applying analytical principles to enhance gathered dataProficiency in current and emerging energy conservation resources and technologies linked to ESPC, EM&V, demand response, fuels and energy procurement, energy data acquisition, analytics, and visualizationStrong grasp of computer business and communication application software like the Microsoft Office SuiteDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical partiesAble to handle multiple projects concurrently and prioritize tasks efficientlyExceptional analytical skills, strong oral and written communication, critical thinking, attention to detail, and organized project management abilitiesDemonstrated capacity to engage effectively with government officials at various levels and representatives from the private sectorCapable of providing timely and effective customer supportPossession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Additional Considerations

  • Preference for experience with advanced business intelligence analytical tools such as Power Bi, Tableau, Cognos
  • Background in regulatory matters, contracts, and contract administration is a plus
  • Prior experience in the operational and energy usage aspects of large government or equivalent commercial facilities is advantageous
