Responsibilities:
  • Retrieve all run reports (trip notes, PCRs, etc.) for previous days transports, either in paper or electronic format
  • Assign appropriate ICD-10 & HCPC codes to claims
  • Review each chart to ensure medical necessity
  • Obtain hospital face sheet/demographics when necessary for payer/demographic details
  • Validate payer information for all transports
  • Verify insurance information using websites or contacting patients for private pay accounts
  • Input all claims into the billing system
  • Match billed claims with appropriate logs
  • Follow up on rejected or failed claims as required
  • Identify payor trends and report to management
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of six (6) months of medical billing experience
  • Preferably experience in EMS billing
  • Six months of ICD-10 & HCPC coding experience
  • Preferably CAC certification
  • Detail-oriented and strong verbal communication skills
  • Maintain any relevant certifications
  • Professional phone etiquette
