Blue Sky Wellness Center at Kings View Behavioral Health was developed in 2007 with funding from Fresno County as a consumer centered and consumer driven wellness and recovery environment for individuals with mental illness. The primary focus is on key health principles: dispensing hope, having freedom of choice, modeling self-determination and personal responsibility. We believe and know that members (consumers) can and do recover and heal from past trauma and mental illness. Self-help and peer support are the foundation for Blue Sky's peer community. Under minimal supervision will oversee all the vocational program elements to ensure that the environment is one that the members will acquire skills needed for employment and/or volunteer readiness. Develops, coordinates and facilitates training for members to learn and cultivate good work habits and job skills essential for career success, including resume writing, interviewing skills and computer skills.

How will I contribute

  • Develops and sustains a wellness and recovery oriented Vocational Program that prepares members for volunteer work and pre-employment readiness.
  • Provides career assessment tools and teaches skill sets essential for supported employment of members.
  • Develops, coordinates and facilitates training for members to learn and cultivate good work habits and job skills essential for career success, including resume writing, interviewing skills and computer skill development.
  • Transports members to designated locations where they can gain experience volunteering.
  • Provides advocacy, linkage and support to members to assist them in accessing and obtaining employment.
  • Documents and tracks all efforts to support members to successful volunteer and employment opportunities.
  • Works closely with the Recovery Coordinator- Volunteers to support a healthy volunteer Program for members.
  • Synchronizes with the Recovery Coordinator- Volunteers with participation in the Monthly Community Volunteer Committee.
  • Networks with community resources and employers to identify volunteer and employment availability on an ongoing basis. Tracks all efforts related to networking.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly reports that reflect all Vocational activities and status of volunteer/employment rates of members.
  • Supports potential new members through the Welcoming Process.
  • Maintains full knowledge and access to Member Ties and completes data entry.
  • Plays an active role and supports new program initiatives.
  • Engage with members in a way that they feel heard and supported.
  • Support members to take the lead in their own Recovery and Resilience Plan.
  • Exercise good decision-making skills in small and group situations.
  • Support members to diffuse conflict and promote learning self-regulation skills.
  • Submit all complaints and/or incident reports directly to the Recovery Services Administrator daily or when they occur.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Recovery Services Administrator

What I bring

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 year experience and/or education and training volunteers, cultivation of work habits and job skills essential for supported employment.
  • Must have lived experience as a person who has received/ or is receiving behavioral health services or a family member of person who has received/receiving behavioral health services.
  • Class C Driving License Required
  • Must have basic understanding and appreciation for recovery and resilience principles.
  • Basic knowledge of mental health challenges most commonly experienced by members.
  • Must have the ability to develop and coordinate training of members; cultivation of work habits and job skills essential for supported employment.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge, including Word, Excel, MS Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to model patience, tolerance and kindness towards members and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and have excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be able to manage multiple interruptions throughout the day
  • Work Ethic -Flexibility -Ability to work in harmony with co-workers -Ability to work in harmony with the clients and public.
  • Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling preferred.
