Primary Purpose:

  • Support a special education teacher in meeting the physical and educational needs of students with disabilities in a classroom setting
  • Aid in implementing various classroom programs such as self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities
  • Work under the supervision of the school principal and the guidance of a certified teacher

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: Associate's degree, equivalent study at a higher education institution, or completion of formal academic assessment
  • Recommendation for a Texas Educational Aide certificate by the district upon employment

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to effectively engage with students having disabilities
  • Proficiency in following both oral and written instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with basic office equipment
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR procedures

Minimum Experience:

  • Previous experience in working with children

Working Conditions:

  • Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
  • Maintain composure in stressful situations with frequent interruptions
  • Involve in moderate physical activities like walking, standing, lifting students, etc.
  • Responsibilities may include addressing disruptive behavior and possible exposure to bacteria and diseases
