SUPERVISOR CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

Summary

Develop and oversee programmatic instructional material, coordinate educational content, and incorporate current technology in specialized fields across all educational programs that provide guidelines to educators and instructors for developing curricula and conducting courses.

Job Requirements (including, but not limited to)

Responsible for curriculum coordination.

On-going consultation with teaching staff regarding instructional methods related to learning, behavior, classroom management and organization, based on direct student contact and observation.

Oversee teacher selection of instructional materials based on IEP. Evaluation and recommendation of new instructional material for possible purchase.

Work with professional staff on curriculum development and/or revision and present suggested changes to administration.

Develop, maintain, and update curriculum scope and sequence.

Advise teaching and administrative staff in curriculum development, use of materials and equipment, and implementation of programs and procedures.

Monitor educational plans for core content standard references, plan components and curriculum relevancy. Assistant instructional staff with creative development.

Schedule and present in-services on new materials, instructional methods, curriculum alternatives and testing. Implement training for new and existing curriculum, as needed or requested.

Coordinate state mandated testing and alternative proficiency assessments.

Review current and proposed IEPs for appropriateness of goals and objectives for referred and accepted students. Develop accessible resources, including goals for staff to refer to for IEP goal development.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Special Education, School Administration or a related field.

License/Certification as a Supervisor by the NJ State Department of Education

Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role preferred in a special education field.
