This position is 20 hours per week. The initial assignment is one year, with the potential for extensions based on funding and job performance.

The position offers a basic benefits package that is 50% employer paid for part-time employees. Optional medical insurance for employees' dependents is up to 25% employer paid for part-time employees.

Purpose


A part-time 'Pollinator Specialist' position jointly guided by Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Jha lab at the University of Texas in Austin is available.

This USFW-funded position will establish and lead coordination with partners in a Texas Pollinator Research Coordination Network. A second goal is to advance state-wide pollinator research and conservation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead various projects related to the Texas Pollinator Research Coordination Network
  • Coordinate and lead communication, data management, and analysis
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and foster an atmosphere of wellbeing, exploration, learning, and constructive feedback
  • Leverage and continue to develop excellent communication skills, including effective writing
Required Qualifications- PhD in ecology or related field of study- Experience working with entomological collections- Experience working with large datasets- Experience conducting public engagement events- Strong record of leading multi-collaborator papers and projects- Relevant education and experience

Salary Range

$30,000 + depending on qualifications (based on 20 hours per week)

Work Shift- Flexible: 20 hours/week.

The majority of the time will be during standard business hours (8:00am-5:00pm), although this may change depending on the project requirements.
