The Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in supporting pharmacists by helping with the preparation, filling, and delivery of medications promptly. They also handle the compounding of both sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals, including total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and IV admixtures. In addition, they are responsible for accurately delivering and restocking automated dispensing machines, as well as maintaining proper inventory levels within these machines.

Roles and Responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician:

  • Support pharmacological services through medication assembly, stocking, and distribution.
  • Maintain accurate records by filing prescriptions and physician orders.
  • Manage medication inventory by sorting, stocking, labeling, and monitoring.
  • Address patient and healthcare provider inquiries, ensuring they are directed to the pharmacist.
  • Adhere to pharmacy regulations by sterilizing equipment and surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Process electronic prescriptions accurately and ensure all details are correct.
  • Record charges and generate revenues efficiently.
  • Handle administrative tasks as assigned by physicians or facility managers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacy Tech License/registration in Tennessee required (PtCB).
  • Current pharmacy technician certification (CPhT).
  • Preference for bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates.
