Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

Position functions in support of our Residential Network system (ResNet), campus Cable TV system (CATV) and related initiatives across the Pullman campus. Works under direct supervision of IT Network & Telecom Journey. Responsible for prioritizing work performed, performing problem solving/troubleshooting and makes some decisions within established limits. Independently consults with customers regarding networking and CATV needs and makes solution recommendations within established guidelines and limitations. Consults with supervisor, other units, and vendors as necessary to achieve resolution (e.g., consult with ITS for network changes). Assists supervisor in for CATV system vendor management including all hardware and cabling vendors and contractors. Assists supervisor in managing cabling vendors and contractors for other structured cabling.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technology field and one year of professional work experience, any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid and unrestricted driver's license (CDL not required).
  • Must be AMP Certified or be able to obtain this certification within twelve months of hire.
  • Should have or be able to obtain certification for fiber optic cable splicing within twelve months of hire.
  • Must have or be able to acquire certification for use of ladders, man lifts, and other equipment necessary to perform the job duties within 90 days of hire.
  • Must have or be able to obtain "competent person training" to work on roof tops.
  • May receive callbacks outside of normal work hours for significant events


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trained and able to perform fusion splicing on fiber optic cable.
  • Experience working with an online help desk ticketing system.
  • Experience with working in environments where exposure to asbestos may occur.

$5,719 to $7,695 | Range 03IT (Steps A - M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC
