The Laboratory and Facilities Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of Bexorg laboratory and support spaces. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including managing vendors and lab personnel, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, shipping and receiving, inventory tracking, lab procurement, and collaborating with various departments to align lab operations with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Bexorg laboratory, ensuring smooth and efficient processes while hitting the targeted number of perfusion runs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of laboratory spaces and support areas to determine the degree to which established levels of facility condition, sanitation, environmental parameters, and security are being met/exceeded.
  • Manage lab scheduling, including equipment usage, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Implement and maintain safety training programs for lab personnel.
  • Supervise and mentor lab technicians and support staff, while overseeing onboarding programs for new lab employees.
Facility Management
  • Provide support for health, safety, and environment programs, emergency coordination, and disaster recovery; ensure a safe working environment for all lab personnel.
  • Liaise between Bexorg and building management, coordinating all communications, requests, and notifications amongst parties.
  • Oversee company IT equipment and services, working in coordination with Bexorg's IT contractor.
  • Receive and direct freight deliveries or any on-site vendor services.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and monitor service agreements including, but not limited to, laboratory equipment, hazardous waste & recycling programs, pest control, outsourced lab and facilities support, and service repair contracts.
Procurement
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of stocks.
  • Ensure optimal allocation of resources and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving programs, including international imports and exports.
  • Participate as required in developing projections for equipment, supplies, and services to effectively operate the laboratory and vivarium while meeting all local, state, and federal requirements.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Science (or related field) with at least three years of experience in laboratory management, or M.S., in Science (or related field) with at least two years of experience in laboratory management.
  • Experience working in and running Biology, Chemistry, and CMC labs
  • Familiarity with cGMP, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance in a laboratory setting.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, with the ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LabGuru and similar) and other lab-related software (i.e., chemical inventory, asset management, procurement, reservation systems, sample management)
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
