Veterinary Assistant Job at Animal Care Center

The Animal Care Center is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join their team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will be responsible for helping with various tasks to support veterinarians and technicians in the clinic.

Job duties include:

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases
  • Administration of medications
  • Communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management

Be prepared to face unpleasant odors and noises, as well as potential exposure to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.

Qualifications:

  • High work ethic and positive attitude
  • Minimum 1-year experience preferred
  • Weekend availability
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret medical records accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care and surgical procedures
  • Proficient in sample collection and laboratory processes
  • Experience with anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • Desire to advance knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods
  • Confidence around various animals
  • Possible need for more than 40 hours per week
  • Mental capacity for job duties
  • Noisy work environment
  • Physical capabilities to handle up to 50 pounds
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
