Join Our Team as a Patient Financial Specialist at XYZ Healthcare Company

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Patient Financial Specialist to provide billing and collections services for patients, including dealing with various insurance claims and assisting with financial arrangements. This role involves maintaining accounts, communicating with billing staff, and ensuring accurate balances between insurance and patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and audit accounts receivables/credits over 45 days old monthly.
  • Work on 30 accounts per day or an average of 150 per week.
  • Communicate effectively with billing staff for improvements.
  • Review insurance EOBs for errors and respond to denials promptly.
  • Assist patients with inquiries and educate staff on payers.
  • Serve as the representative for specific payers and address patient questions.
  • Collaborate with other departments for timely corrections.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of data entry and billing experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in a multispecialty clinic preferred.
  • Billing Certificate or demonstrated proficient knowledge of healthcare billing processes.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of computerized practice management systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Display sensitivity to the patient population.
  • Work independently with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Windows software programs.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid guidelines, and billing forms.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  2. Healthcare experience highly preferred.

REPORTING

  1. Reports to the PFS Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  2. Ability to view a computer screen for extended periods.
  3. Repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods.
