Radar Systems Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

We are looking for a skilled Radar Systems Engineer to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). If you are passionate about leveraging your expertise in RF propagation and scattering, radar cross-section estimation, and more to contribute to national security missions, then this position is perfect for you.

In this role, you will be part of the Computational Electromagnetics Group within the Engineering Directorate, applying your engineering judgment and modeling experience across various projects related to radar detection, system characterization, radar cross-section modeling, and more.

You will

  • Provide Radar knowledge to interdisciplinary teams and assist in determining tasks and milestones.
  • Contribute radar expertise by characterizing radar systems and determining radar cross-sections.
  • Utilize industry-standard modeling tools and in-house simulation tools on leading supercomputers.
  • Present research results at technical meetings and conferences.
  • Deliver engineering solutions for research projects in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain U.S. DOE Q/SCI-level security clearance.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field with radar systems experience.
  • Proficiency in commercial electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional qualifications

  • Ability to conduct independent research projects.
  • Subject matter expert in radar design and return simulations.
  • Experience in project management related to electromagnetics.

Desired Qualifications

  • PhD in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Extensive research experience in radar system design.

Security Clearance

This role requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
