Our client's family farming business produces superior seed stock for the beef industry. It is focused on providing high-quality, fully described Poll Hereford Bulls and females to commercial beef producers across Australia. Seedstock has been the family's business for over 70 years.

They are a market leader in measured performance and pride themselves on the quality and longevity of the cattle they breed.

Their greatest strength lies in their females' tremendous fertility and maternal power, and they are the highest Hereford herd for genetic marbling in Australasia.

This family-owned and operated beef seed stock and fat lamb enterprise is spread across 1,500 productive hectares and close to Holbrook, NSW.

Holding two on-property bull sales and multiple on-site field days each year, the operation is at the forefront of cattle breeding and technology, focusing on the genetic improvement of their herd through AI and ET programs.

An exceptional herd of 800 registered Poll Hereford cows is meticulously managed, and up to 200 top-quality bulls plus elite females are sold yearly to the businesss large and growing client base.

With a prime lamb enterprise, lambing 2,500 to 3,000 self-replacing Primeline ewes assists with grazing management and fat lamb production.


The Role:


To allow the owners to focus on other parts of the business, this newly developed and exciting role will see you focus on the farm's operational management.

You will be responsible for all day-to-day management, including ensuring all livestock are healthy and productive and utilising the total feed resource to achieve optimal farm performance.

Your role will include managing all aspects of cattle and sheep husbandry, pasture management, record keeping, staff management, and general maintenance.

In addition to a high level of experience with livestock management and excellent animal husbandry skills, you will ideally have a solid understanding and practical skillset across all aspects of the farm.

This position involves great attention to detail, encompassing intensive accurate record keeping on stock and key production traits, numbers, and animal data, with regular reporting to the owner.

The property is well-developed with modern infrastructure, including new sheep and cattle yards, laneways, improved water systems, and modern machinery to assist with their primary focus of quality production and genetic improvement.

The right and willing person can learn and grow into the position, take on more responsibilities, and develop skills in all administration aspects of the farm, including recording, planning, budgeting, and marketing activities.

The successful applicant will ideally possess the following skills and attributes -Experience in all aspects of cattle health and husbandry, as well as an understanding and experience with ET and AI programming, is desirable.

Handling stock gently using low-stress stock handling principles.
Being able to adhere to all OHS standards is a requirement.
Experience with grazing management and animal health procedures.
Planning ongoing improved pastures, controlling weeds, and renovating old pastures.
Experience in managing staff and the ability to encourage and teach.
High-level record and data-keeping skills, attention to detail, and experience using programs such as AgriWebb.
High self-motivation, initiative, and self-accountability with a good, honest work ethic.
Experience with farm machinery operation, mechanical and general maintenance.
Be an excellent communicator with aspirations to learn and further develop the businesses.
