About the Department:


The Department of Anesthesiology boasts a team of over 60 faculty members engaged in clinical anesthesia, critical care, pain medicine, and basic pain research. The University of Minnesota is renowned globally for its pain research and pioneering work in analgesic drug development.


Research efforts focus on a wide range of topics related to pain, neuroplasticity, analgesia, and more. The department collaborates closely with the University's Center for Addiction Research, creating a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary training and collaboration.

Recent investments in the field of pain medicine have further strengthened the department's support in this area.


Requirements:
  • Must have an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree.
  • Completion of an accredited ACGME residency or fellowship program.
  • Board eligible/certified.
  • Licensed or eligible for the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DEA certification in Minnesota.
  • Meet Credentialing and Privileges criteria.
  • Demonstrated research productivity.
  • Established independent research program with a history of external NIH funding.
  • Current funding preferred.
