Description

Title: Laser Operator

Department: Laser, Design and Die (LDD)

Location: Hawn Avenue

Wage Category: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Report To: Production Supervisor

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Select the proper cutting programs (computer files) to be used for the required cutting application.
  • Ensure materials are properly aligned on the laser machine.
  • Perform all dimensional inspections.
  • Determine proper cutting setting for specific materials depending on the type of material to be cut based on the pre-set specifications in the computer (based on the materials height and material type).
  • Label the parts of the cut materials and provide the quality staff personnel with the materials and a check-off list.
  • Thread materials through the unwind machine to accomplish loading procedures with the forklift operator.
  • Perform startup and shutdown procedures on the laser machine and the computer at the beginning and end of each day.
  • Problem-solve to detect issues ensuring materials are cut in the creation process according to specifications and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the desired product. Report the findings to the production supervisor or production leader.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Operating Equipment:
  • Laser cutting machine
  • Personal computer
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or the equivalent preferred
  • Standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending, lifting, and walking
  • Basic computer skills (ability to use a computer to navigate and select files)
  • Background in machine operations preferred.
  • Must meet the visual acuity and visual field for legally blind.
