Position Title: Architectural Design Manager – School Projects – Modernization and Expansion
Program: Los Angeles Unified School District, Facilities Program – Asset Management
Work Location: Downtown Los Angeles

A successful candidate for this role will work on the DACM contract with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Facilities Construction Program.
Salary Range: $190,000 to $200,000 per year

Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing multiple design teams contracted to design renovation, addition, and new facilities for LAUSD school sites. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and supervising design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects. The position acts as the lead design professional in the Design Department, ensuring quality review and implementation of policies and procedures. Interfacing with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) is also a key aspect of the role. Specific functions include:
- Manage and coordinate the District's design process for the Facilities Services Division to meet program, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements
- Oversee multiple projects, from inception to final review and handover
- Ensure building design compliance with LAUSD's standards and guidelines
- Select and procure architectural firms based on qualifications and performance
- Provide clear direction to Architects regarding project goals, standards, site, schedule, and budget
- Establish an efficient design review process to meet project objectives and budget constraints
- Develop educational opportunities to stay updated on working with architects and contractors
- Coordinate with the Division of the State Architect and other District departments supporting design processes
- Make timely decisions and ensure proper documentation and budget adherence throughout the project
- Recommend architectural firms from a prequalified list and engage in community outreach programs to foster project acceptance
- Collaborate with various LAUSD departments for seamless project execution
- Perform any other assigned duties
