POSITION TITLE: Delivery Associate

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of the Delivery Associate is to deliver packages for Amazon while driving an assigned route.

*Pay range is $ $22.25 an hour* *Must be 21 years or older to apply*

  • Includes weekdays, weekends, & holidays
  • We operate 7 days a week, 361 days a year
  • Available to work Saturdays and Sundays

Requirements:

  • Must consent to Drug Screening
  • Must be at least 21 years or older
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record. Able to pass a motor vehicle record check
  • Valid AZ driver's license
  • Able to speak and communicate in English
  • Must be tech-savvy and able to operate a Smartphone/GPS device with a scanner and team applications
  • Must always observe all traffic rules and company safety policies
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. packages during an 8–10-hour work shift
  • Must be able to handle stressful workloads and driving demands
  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs, reach overhead, squat, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch repeatedly during an 8–10-hour work shift

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 4 days a week, for at least 10 hours per day
  • Ability to safely operate a Step Van with a weight rating of up to 10,000 pounds
  • Ability to maintain focus and pay attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English to communicate with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the public, coworkers, managers, and Amazon employees
  • Ability to effectively operate a global positioning system (GPS) navigation system
  • Ability to use electronic devices for route navigation and planning
  • Ability to maintain basic logs and records
  • Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and satisfaction, despite potentially stressful events/conditions
  • Ability to drive in all types of weather
  • Ability to walk, lift, bend, reach above the head, kneel, crouch, twist, and/or stretch during shifts up to 11 hours long
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and sort boxes and packages weighing up to 50 pounds each on a frequent basis
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs frequently throughout the workday
  • Ability to successfully handle and timely deliver customer packages
  • Ability to timely report for scheduled shifts and maintain reliable attendance
  • Adhere to strict safety and quality standards on and off the road
  • Safely drive and perform safety inspections on Company vehicle
  • Follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and Company policies
  • Interact in a positive and professional manner with customers and the public while delivering products to customers' homes, retail, and business locations
  • Keep pace in physically demanding job
  • Follow up on customer requests or problems with a solution-oriented approach, keeping customers informed of delivery progress
  • Sort and prepare a delivery route to meet customer expectations
  • Ensure delivery vehicle is clean, fueled, and in good operating condition always
  • May assist in training other team members
  • Where appropriate, carry out delivery station activities including sortation and general tasks
  • Provide rescue assistance to other drivers once the driver has completed his/her route for the shift
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Drives a delivery van with a weight rating of up to 10,000 pounds to many customer residences and businesses, climbs in and out of the van, and walks up and down stairs as required to deliver packages according to established procedures in all weather conditions
  • Flexibility is key; routes may vary and may be delayed due to traffic from on-road congestion, construction, or other factors
  • Full-time hours consisting of 32+ hours a week (8-11 hours/day). There may be adjustments including, additional hours and potential schedule changes depending on the time of the year peak seasons, and other factors

  • Safely drive and perform safety inspections on Company vehicle
  • Follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and Company policies
  • Interact in a positive and professional manner with customers and the public while delivering products to customers' homes, retail, and business locations
  • Keep pace in physically demanding job
  • Follow up on customer requests or problems with a solution-oriented approach, keeping customers informed of delivery progress
  • Sort and prepare a delivery route to meet customer expectations
  • Ensure delivery vehicle is clean, fueled, and in good operating condition always
  • May assist in training other team members
  • Where appropriate, carry out delivery station activities including sortation and general tasks

  • Represent the team with a positive and service-oriented attitude
  • Effective communicator
  • 1 year of driving experience preferred
  • Delivery driving experience such as Lyft, Fed Ex, UPS, Auto Parts, Pizza, etc. preferred
  • Large cargo/passenger vehicle driving experience preferred (No CDL Required)
  • History of dependable attendance
  • Highly adaptable in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to problem-solve to meet targets
  • Knowledge of Phoenix and surrounding cities

Work Environment

Typical Daily Agenda:

  • Arrive at Van Lot by the required time to receive your van assignment as scheduled
  • Attend the morning stand-up meeting to discuss areas of focus and ongoing training
  • Receive route assignment, keys, tools, and delivery smartphone / GPS device with van
  • Perform a pre-trip vehicle inspection thoroughly, checking the van for damage.
  • Head to the station to pick up packages for the day
  • Deliver packages at a quick even pace throughout the shift
  • Be on your feet up to hours per day while walking up to 4 miles
  • Climb in and out of a van for each delivery
  • Follow all delivery instructions for each stop
  • Help fellow team members as needed (Rescues)
  • Return van to the station after refueling to drop off leftover packages/tote bags
  • Remove all trash & debris from the van
  • Return Smartphone/GPS scanner device, tools, and keys
  • Debrief with Team
  • Perform post-trip inspection noting any required maintenance items
