About the Company: Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team as a School Nurse. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing medical assistance to students and ensuring their well-being during the school day.
Credentials Required: Current LPN license as required by the state.
Qualifications: The School Nurse position involves conducting medical procedures during school hours and administering medication to students who are unable to do so themselves. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of individual education plans and the physical needs of students with various conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, Down Syndrome, and more. Additionally, flexibility, compassion, confidentiality, and strong documentation skills are vital for this role.
Physical Demands: The School Nurse must be physically capable of lifting and transferring children, working with medical equipment, and handling challenging situations such as foul odors and combative behavior.
Essential Job Functions:
- Administer medical procedures and treatments
- Coordinate necessary documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings
- Maintain accurate health records
- Ensure proper medication storage
- Provide updates to staff and parents
- Administer medications to students in need
- Collaborate with staff and administration
- Provide first aid
- Assist in caring for disabled children
Staff Relationship: The School Nurse reports to the Supervisor of Health Services, School Principal, and Finance and Administrative Service Director.
Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits are as recommended by the Finance and Administrative Service Director and approved by the Director of Schools; 200-day calendar. Non-exempt position.
