Key attributes for a Senior Revenue Auditor include mastering the roles and responsibilities of an Auditor and a willingness to continue to learn and develop expertise and technical knowledge in oil and gas accounting and audit processes.

In addition, a Senior Revenue Auditor must exhibit leadership, utilize critical thinking, exhibit strong analytical skills, and demonstrate knowledge and the application of COPAS documents and the accounting procedure when analyzing contract provisions.

A Senior Revenue Auditor must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong proficiency in data analysis. A Senior Revenue Auditor facilitates training of newer staff under the direction of the Audit Supervisor and Audit Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with a VP, Manager, Supervisor, or Lead on specific projects.
  • Has an ownership mentality of their work product; understands concepts and the "why", understands the importance of documentation.
  • Leads or assists in audits and assumes responsibilities for increasingly complex workpaper sections and reviews.
  • Proficient in oil and gas terms, operations, and knowledge of COPAS publications and accounting procedures; seeks opportunities to acquire additional knowledge.
  • Writes audit flight plans and exceptions with minimal input and writes and clears review notes.
  • Writes professional emails, requests for information, memos, and formal reports.
  • Exception writing is turned in "report-ready".
  • Applies Martindale standards and workpaper techniques.
  • Trains staff in audit concepts, Martindale standards, and workpaper techniques
  • Ability to build complex Excel analysis schedules using Excel analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of other software systems such as SAP, ability to train others in the use of software.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills, strong analytical skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Communicates efficiently and often.
  • Drafts and can present reports of findings and analysis; identifies and recommends revisions and improvements to auditing practices and procedures.
  • Willingness to volunteer for internal or external leadership roles and seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Keen critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Understands the importance of continued learning.
  • Provides back-up support for individual team members as needed.
  • Works with the team to create an exceptional client experience through high quality support and communication.
  • Provides value to the audit team and organization to facilitate the practice's continued growth and development.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (preferably in business, math, or finance).
  • Three plus years of experience in oil and gas auditing.
  • Tech savvy and proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, SAP, and other software.
  • Willingness to travel on domestic and international projects for an extended period.
