Summary About the Position:

Works in the ACoS G6 Plans and Exercise (PLEX) Branch under the general supervision of the PLEX Branch Chief as a C4/IT planner/action officer with focus on strategic, operational and tactical level C4/IT planning of COCOM directed US/Joint/Multinational exercises.

Responsibilities Throughout the Military Decision Making Process, develops Staff Estimates and Annexes as directed for various Combatant Command and Theater Army Contingency Plans (CONPLANs), Operations Orders (OPORD), and Campaign Plans.

Develops and coordinates C4 sustainment requirements (personnel, equipment, funds) using Field Budget Estimates (FBEs), submits funds requests, develops and submits Performance Of Work Statements (PWS) in support of exercises and contingencies Develops Requests for Forces (RFF), Joint Manning Documents and requests for support to set C4 conditions in theater for Joint Exercises and contingencies.

Reviews and comments on products from external stakeholders such as HQDA, TRADOC, USSOUTHCOM such as Policies, Regulations, Army Doctrine Publications (ADPs), Army Techniques Publications (ATPs), etc.

Participates in Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) events such as Initial, Main and Final Planning, gathers and deconflicts requirements and prepares and delivers briefings to senior leadership for guidance and decision.

Provide and/or coordinate for/manage required automation/IT/Communications support as directed for US, Interagency and Partner Nation exercise participants as specified in Exercise Directive or headquarters OPORD.

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (Policy and Planning) Specialize Experience:

One year of specialize experience which includes providing expert technical advice and assistance on IT policy and plans issues, as well the knowledge of technical data necessary to identify approaches for satisfying communications requirements; providing resolution and facilitate development of utility programs for use with network operating systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1)

  • Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include:

Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
