OVERVIEW:
Riverwards Produce is a group of produce-focused markets in Philadelphia, PA.


The Produce Supervisor position at Riverwards Produce supports operations of the Produce department and takes ownership of all Juice Bar department operations, staff, and aesthetics.

This role requires creativity and passion for fresh and local produce, a heavy concentration in customer service and creating systems to ensure that cashiers have clear communication about protocol and line management to create the ultimate juice bar experience.

The Produce Supervisor has an expert knowledge of local/seasonal produce, innovative menu ideas, exceptional people management skills, and POS operations.

They're able to field inquiries and suggestions from both customers and staff.

They coordinate frequently with Store Managers, the Grocery and Produce teams to ensure an innovative and exciting menu, proper staffing, product variance, store cleanliness, and aesthetic coherence.


The Produce Supervisor ensures that we are presenting a cohesive aesthetic upon entry and providing top-notch service and product knowledge for our customers.

  • Responsibilities:_
  • Collaborate with Produce Buyer and Department manager to offer exciting, seasonal and creative offerings at the juice bar
  • Responsible for overall fiscal performance of Juice Bar
  • Maintains uptodate procedural logs and implements new process changes
  • Creates and conducts training for Juice Bar staff in collaboration with the Produce Department Manager to ensure effective job performance and excellent customer service
  • Participates in personnel decisions with Produce Manager, relating to department operations including hiring, scheduling, and discipline
  • Serves as a primary contact for POS technical escalations at Juice Bar
  • Creates and maintains schedules for Juice Bar staff
  • Ensures the completion of all opening, midshift, and closing procedures
  • Maintains organized and clear and efficient check out experience
  • Maintain processes pertaining to money handling by staff
  • Requirements_
  • Minimum 3 years food based retail and/or managing
  • Previous management experience in a grocery setting
  • Experience receiving, processing, and merchandising grocery in a retail setting
  • Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
  • A diligent approach to safety and sanitation
  • ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
  • A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all store tasks
  • Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing startup business
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and ability to communicate easily and often with team and managers
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience receiving, processing, and/or merchandising specialty grocery in a retail setting
  • A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
  • Working knowledge of local food makers

COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time. This position is hourly and compensation is dependent upon experience and starts at $18/hr. Riverwards Produce provides a 20% discount on all store products.
