Senior Indirect Tax Analyst Position


We are looking for a proactive and hands-on tax professional to join our dynamic team as a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst. This role involves supporting our indirect tax and business license compliance processes, reporting directly to the Senior Tax Manager.


Responsibilities:
  • Monthly preparation of indirect tax data files
  • Creation of journal entries and GL reconciliations
  • Collaboration with third-party tax preparers
  • Filing of miscellaneous gross receipts and some sales tax returns
  • Compiling information for indirect tax audits
  • Adherence to internal control requirements
  • Handling of tax notices and business license applications
  • Maintenance of indirect tax and business license calendars
  • Obtaining and managing customer tax exemption certificates
  • Researching and addressing customer tax inquiries and billing disputes
  • Assistance with property tax data and filing of Canada GST returns
  • Contributing to ad hoc projects as necessary

Required Expertise:

The ideal candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively. Additionally, candidates should be self-sufficient, take ownership of tasks, document complex tax matters clearly, exhibit a flexible approach, and thrive in a dynamic work environment.


Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in accounting is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in indirect tax, either within a mid- to large-sized accounting firm or a corporate tax department.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in research tools and familiarity with software such as Bloomberg Tax, SAP, NetSuite, Avalara, or Sovos.


Work Environment:

This position offers a remote work setup, with occasional travel possible and flexibility for overtime when necessary to meet deadlines. The role also requires adaptability to work across multiple U.S. time zones.
