Full-Time Assistant Solicitor Position

Company: 10th Circuit Solicitor's Office

General Description:
The Assistant Solicitor position involves preparing and prosecuting criminal cases in any court where the 10th Circuit Solicitor's Office represents the State of South Carolina.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Prepare criminal cases for trial, hearings, and pleas
  • Represent the State in various criminal court proceedings
  • Conduct legal research and review current statutes and case law
  • Coordinate with other agencies for offender dispositions
  • Review case files, contact witnesses/victims, and draft legal documents
  • Conduct plea negotiations and advise law enforcement


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with South Carolina laws, codes, and court rules
  • Completion of Juris Doctor degree and South Carolina law license
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Adequate legal knowledge for case analysis and decision-making
  • Proficiency in computer skills for legal research and case management


Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school


Related Experience:
Preferred experience

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
Certifications, licenses, or qualifications required include: Membership in the SC Bar in good standing, completion of Rule 403 requirements, and South Carolina law course of study completed.
