In this exciting role, you will be responsible for setting up appointments and providing referral information to MCHC patients who need care from specialists. You'll be the one making sure that our patients get the care they need when they need it, by providing appropriate scheduling for those referred to Specialty providers.

As a Referral Coordinator, you'll also act as a liaison between MCHC and outside medical facilities, ensuring optimal patient care. Your attention to detail will be key in making sure that our patients receive the best possible care, and your excellent customer service skills will help to make the referral process as smooth as possible.

Other Duties Include:

  • Provides information to patients regarding specialty services provided at MCHC and at external physician offices, according to the care needed.
  • Maintains appropriate interaction and communication with medical providers.
  • Checks financial eligibility for specialty appointments.
  • Schedules specialty appointments at MCHC, following protocol for the individual specialty providers.
  • Communicates with the patients to advise of appointment date, time, location, and preparation needed. Provides address or map for location of appointment for patients.
  • Documents appointment information or pertinent medical information in patients' chart as indicated.
  • Coordinates financial arrangements with Financial Services, as needed.
  • Obtains insurance authorization for specialty appointments when indicated.
  • Communicates with outside medical offices for pertinent medical information required for specialty appointments prior to the appointments.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • Two or more years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One or more years' experience in customer relations.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One or more years' experience in healthcare.
