Job Opening: Medical Records Director

We are on the lookout for a dedicated Medical Records Director, whether you come from a Nursing or Non-Nursing background.


Position Summary
  • Overseeing patients' clinical records, including coding, auditing, and ensuring staff are well-versed in recordkeeping procedures to comply with all laws and regulations. Also, serving as the Privacy Officer for the facility, reporting directly to the Executive Director.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or possessing a health-related degree with significant training in Health Information Management (HIM)
  • Training in post-acute care health information management

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate expertise in legal requirements for health information documentation
  • Proficiently use complex computer software systems
  • Independently make decisions when necessary
  • Implement and interpret medical records department policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Promote a culture of integrity and compliance
  • Supervise, hire, and train medical records staff

Essential Functions
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of patient records for compliance
  • Organize patient records filing systems
  • Act as the Privacy Officer for HIPAA compliance
  • Use ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals
  • Exhibit excellent customer service towards patients
  • Assist in patient evacuations when necessary
  • Regularly attend work and collaborate with the team
  • Perform various physical tasks as needed
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively in English
