At Ports America, the position of Health, Safety, and Sustainability Manager plays a key role in providing essential support and guidance to operations within the Business Unit. The main responsibilities include developing and implementing safety and health programs to align with the strategic safety and health plan of the company, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations at federal, state, and local levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the establishment and communication of HS&S Standards and Best Practice Procedures across the business unit.
  • Implement and monitor environmental, safety, and accident prevention programs as per government regulations and company policies.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for managers to conduct regular safety inspections and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions related to incident management and audit findings.
  • Track safety KPIs and metrics, ensuring effective communication across all levels.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to drive improvements in HS&S performance and compliance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Maritime Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • 2+ years of experience in maritime or terminal operations, including leadership roles.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, U.S. Coast Guard, and relevant regulations.
  • Previous audit experience is preferred.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Training in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and team-working skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers for data processing.
  • Strong analytical and investigative capabilities.

Working Environment:

  • Combination of office-based work and field visits to shipping terminals.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous environments on terminals and ships.
