About the Position

The Equipment and Automation Engineer 1 role within the corporate operations department at Exact Sciences involves supporting the manufacturing of existing equipment and assisting in the implementation of new equipment into production. This hands-on engineering position encompasses various design functions, offers technical guidance to production teams, addresses equipment failures, drives improvements, and ensures continuous support for our machines.

This role collaborates across departments to align with business goals and customer requirements, fostering a positive team environment dedicated to the mission of Exact Sciences.

Essential Duties

  • Develop processes and procedures for new equipment construction.
  • Implement defined procedures for modifying existing equipment.
  • Investigate issues, gather data, analyze findings, and make informed decisions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Support the resolution of quality issues through investigation of Non-Conforming Materials Reports.
  • Participate in building and testing custom equipment.
  • Contribute to complex improvement projects as a team member.
  • Manage tasks efficiently, balancing time and priorities under leadership guidance.
  • Communicate project status effectively through written and verbal reports.
  • Maintain detailed records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work independently and within a team in a matrix organization.
  • Adhere to company values and quality management system policies.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to work schedules.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and spend time working in front of a computer screen.
  • Travel occasionally for training and site visits.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; or Associates degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill essential job duties with or without accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering or life sciences/medical device industry.
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments, applying problem-solving skills and process improvement techniques.
  • Experience in a regulated production environment.

Salary Range

The annual base salary for this position in US - WI - Madison ranges from $60,000 to $97,000.

In addition to base salary, bonus eligibility and stock options are included.
