The Events & Dining team at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking an experienced Manager on Duty to oversee onsite events, managing logistical elements and ensuring seamless execution from setup to load out. As the Manager on Duty, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of various events hosted by the museum, ranging from corporate gatherings to private receptions and everything in between. This role is strictly hourly onsite event management.

Specifically, you will:
  • Logistics Management: Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including setup, breakdown, vendor coordination, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for event organizers, addressing any questions or concerns before, during, and after events.
  • Staff Supervision: Manage onsite event staff, including security personnel, catering staff, and any other contractors hired for specific events.
  • Problem Resolution: Act quickly and decisively to address any issues or emergencies that may arise during events, ensuring minimal disruption to the guest experience.
  • Venue Maintenance: Ensure cleaning staff (C-Tech) maintain the cleanliness and appearance of event spaces throughout the duration of each event, including restrooms, common areas, and exhibition spaces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your background and experience include:
  • Proven experience in event management, preferably in a cultural or museum setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and vendors.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, event planning, or a related field preferred.
Position and Compensation Details
  • The hourly rate for this position is $ $36.26.
  • This position is Part-Time, Non-Exempt, and approx hours per week on an as needed basis based on event schedule.
  • This position reports to the Director of Events and Dining.
  • This position requires evening and weekend availability based on event schedule.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus.
    • Able to regularly set up, adjust, and operate a computer/keyboard and other office equipment used to generate work/transmit data.
    • Able to move items up to 30 pounds.
    • Able to remain stationary for up to seven hours.
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
