As a Radiation Physicist at Inova, you'll handle internal communications, conduct investigations, and gather information.
Job Responsibilities:- Collaborate with physicians in the specialist area on patient use of ionizing radiation.
- Participate in hospital committees like the Radiation Safety Committee.
- Maintain professional relationships with directors and Medical Directors.
- Provide Medical Physics coverage for specialty areas.
- Work with Engineering on radiation shield design.
- Oversee testing of new medical equipment.
- Perform calculations and measurements for treatment techniques.
- Stay updated on clinical and dosimetry literature.
- Develop contacts with physicists in other practices.
- Confer with vendors on equipment specifications and maintenance.
- Discuss radiation exposure with patients and the public.
- Deliver physics lectures to Inova personnel.
- Master's degree in Physics or related field required, Doctoral degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Clinical Medical Physics.
- American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification required.
- Virginia Inspector certification within first two months.
- Availability to work nights and weekends.
- Knowledge of scripting preferred.
- Experience with Raystation treatment planning system preferred.
- Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
