Per Diem Psychiatric PMHNP

Office Locations:
Litchfield, Torrington, New Britain, Waterbury and Danbury

About This Position:

  • Assume medical responsibility for patients/clients under their direct care and supervision
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) of patients/clients leading to a multiaxial diagnoses according to the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association (APA)
  • Adhere to and implement Wellness Center policies and procedures related to clinical care
  • Provide specialized expertise in the development and implementation of individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned patients/clients
  • Provide consultation, review, and guidance for clinicians in the evaluation and treatment of patients on a routine basis
  • Sign off on treatment plans indicating medical necessity
  • Produce thoughtful, clinically sound and highquality written documentation including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
  • Communicate with the Wellness Center Director and Medical Director regularly
  • Maintain all necessary paperwork as it relates to third party billing
  • Maintain files and ensure paperwork is filed in a timely fashion

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Board Certified or board eligible in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Clinical experience and knowledge specifically pertaining to adolescent development, mental illness, influences of trauma, and coping skills
  • Experience with individual therapy with adolescents as well as family therapy
  • Experience with an Electronic Clinical Record
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to formulate and articulate diagnosis
  • Ability to formulate positive collaborative relationships with the community, funding sources, governmental relations and our client base
  • Ability to work independently
