Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of sales/use tax matters, techniques, and compliance across multiple states
  • Handle the exemption/resale certificate process efficiently
  • Oversee the issuance of tax exemption and resale certificates to vendors
  • Review, approve, upload, and monitor resale and exemption certificates from clients
  • Conduct tax research utilizing available tools
  • Address sales/use tax queries from internal and external clients promptly and accurately
  • Offer guidance on product and service taxability
  • Support D365 and Vertex O for accurate taxation
  • Register in new jurisdictions for sales/use tax requirements as necessary
  • Provide assistance in audit defense endeavors as required
  • Contribute ideas for automated solutions to enhance compliance processes and tax systems
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and clients to deliver exceptional service
  • Assist in reconciling sales/use tax workpapers and accounts
Qualifications

Education: BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a multi-state sales/use tax environment
  • Demonstrate teamwork, strong analytical skills, and effective communication abilities for independent work
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced setting, handling multiple tasks, and prioritizing effectively
  • Prior experience in addressing customers' sales tax inquiries, conducting tax research, and providing taxability guidance
  • Previous exposure to sales/use tax audits
  • Experience in evaluating vendor billed sales tax
  • Preferably, familiarity with the contractor/contracting industry
  • Consistently evaluate processes and procedures for areas of enhancement and efficiency
Systems:
  • Experience with Vertex O (strongly desired) or other sales/use tax determination software
  • Knowledge of D365 is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience in Power BI, MS Sequel, Mastermind is advantageous
