Lead Perfusionist Position at Sharp Memorial Hospital

  • Shift: Day, 0.9 FTE
  • Shift Times: 7 AM - 7 PM

Description:

A challenging opportunity is available for a Lead Perfusionist at Sharp Memorial Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of Perfusionists, overseeing daily work assignments, on-call duties, and inventory management. You will also play a key role in clinical teaching, training, and ensuring optimal mechanical life support systems. Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff is crucial to tailor perfusion to each patient's needs. The Lead Perfusionist must stay alert and respond effectively to critical situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage team of Perfusionists and daily clinical responsibilities
  • Conduct Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB) independently
  • Provide expertise for a variety of clinical teaching and training topics
  • Oversee inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Collaborate on research projects in Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgery

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Healthcare
  • 5 years of Perfusion clinical experience
  • Current Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP)
  • Prior leadership experience
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Cardiopulmonary or Cardiovascular Perfusion
  • Experience in VAD and transplant procedures
  • ACLS certification preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Manage department operations and personnel
  • Perform Cardiopulmonary Bypass and other clinical procedures
  • Provide education and training for staff and students

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates critical decision-making skills
  • Proficient in various clinical procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Strong understanding of perfusion processes
