Earth Systems Inc. is an environmental consulting and engineering firm that supports regulatory agencies and private clients in the performance of hazardous waste and petroleum assessment and remediation. Our areas of expertise include Environmental Engineering, Contamination Assessment and Remediation, Environmental Compliance, Property Transfer Assessments, and Permitting. We are looking for a creative, energetic, and knowledgeable Senior Geologist (PG) with a wealth of industry experience and a talent for process optimization.

You will have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the geology field, primarily related to environmental services including site assessment, site due diligence, environmental sampling, compliance inspections, and supervising contractors. This multifaceted role will include preliminary environmental document preparation, understanding of remediation systems - design and operation, environmental permitting, environmental due diligence, environmental site characterization, compliance inspections, and environmental site closure phases. To be a successful candidate, you should be communicative, observant, organized, and committed to reaching project goals. You should also possess strong interpersonal, time management, and presentation skills.

Professional licensure, PG, is required.

What you will be doing:

You will be managing and expanding our environmental services, which include but are not limited to due diligence risk management, including Phase I ESA and Phase II ESA activities, all aspects of site remediation activities, environmental sampling, and hydrogeological assessment.

This is a senior-level management position, and you will be comfortable making authoritative decisions and recommendations to improve environmental services operations. This includes initiating, maintaining, and nurturing valuable relationships with key clients, prospects, state and local authorities, and other industry individuals. Experience in a business development role that has included lead generation, networking, new client development, and expansion of portfolios with existing clients is a plus and a strong differentiator.

You will need to manage projects from conception to closeout. This includes managing and working with senior staff, junior staff, and subcontractors to ensure that our client deliverables are on time and complete. This position could require approximately up to 25% travel within Florida and surrounding states.

Job requirements and the desired skills you'll bring:

  • Licensed Professional Geologist in the State of Florida
  • A bachelors degree in Geology or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive environmental project experience including the coordination and management of projects consisting of site investigation, remediation and monitoring, general environmental compliance, and/or natural resources.
  • Prior experience supporting Oil and Gas is a plus.
  • Current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Must have a safe driving record and a valid Driver's License and must have a satisfactory driving record by the Company's driving policy.

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • A diverse background in environmental site assessment, remediation, risk assessment, and field sampling (soils, groundwater, and surface water.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities.
  • Independently problem-solve and work autonomously with a sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional writing, grammatical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Required knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (Microsoft Office and Adobe).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working inside and outside in Florida and the surrounding states. Weather and environmental conditions are subject to change daily.
  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces), reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel.
  • Personal protective equipment and/or clothing is required in the field.
