Overview:


THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION BUT CANDIDATE SHOULD LIVE IN THE FARIBAULT, OWATONNA, or NORTHFIELD MN AREA TO MEET WITH SCHOOL SITES AMD ATTEND LOCAL MEETINGS.


The Coaching Specialist is an education expert in literacy and/or numeracy who is unrelentingly committed to achieving positive and equitable outcomes for students.

The Coaching Specialist provides on-site technical support and guidance to members, and coaching to participating schools, ensures fidelity to the program models, and leads data-based decision making to maximize the impact of the program.

Alongside Program Managers and Recruiters, Coaching Specialists facilitate positive relationships with partnering sites by advocating for the most effective implementation of Reading Corps and/or Math Corps programming to maximize positive and equitable student outcomes.


Responsibilities:
Technical Literacy and/or Math Support and Coaching
Provide technical supervision and support to a cohort of members at assigned schools to ensure the Reading Corps and/or Math Corps model is delivered with fidelity and students make adequate progress
Observe tutors for fidelity to Reading Corps and/or Math Corps assessments and interventions
Provide coaching support to tutors and Internal Coaches to maintain high levels of fidelity to the Reading Corps and/or Math Corps model
Review program data regularly to ensure consistent implementation (e.g. students served, tutoring minutes) and monitor student progress
Participate in data-decision making teams at the site to review data and plan for interventions that best meet the literacy and numeracy needs of students
Collaborate with school staff to identify and prioritize students to receive targeted supplemental intervention from Reading Corps and Math Corps tutors
Monitor the completeness and accuracy of student data in the Reading Corps or Math Corps online data management systems
Maximize the impact of the program by supporting school staff and administrators understanding of the programs purpose, strategically utilizing tutoring resources and data to supplement other school-based services, and sharing data clearly and accurately
Actively problem-solve to balance

to the site needs and environmental constraints to maximize student outcomes
Incorporate Internal Coach, tutor, and student voices in coaching and tutoring sessions to maximize student engagement and success
Site Partnerships
Collaborate closely with Program Managers and Recruiters to facilitate positive relationships with partnering sites by sharing program data regularly, supporting Internal Coaches and tutors to maximize tutor performance, and effectively implementing program models to maximize positive and equitable student outcomes
Develop and maintain productive partnerships with sites, including principals, superintendents, tutors, teaching staff and Internal Coaches, and other school-based partners by advocating for the impact of the program with supporting evidence and data
Work closely with all partners to ensure open, effective communication and a clear understanding of the program model and site-specific program data, to maximize successful implementation of the model with strong and equitable student outcomes
Conduct in person site visits at least quarterly depending on caseload and supervisor direction (regional travel required).
Inspire program advocacy in school leaders by sharing data in accurate, accessible ways that maximize program impact and efficacy
Build site capacity to manage the programs by developing long-term relationships with stakeholders to promote systems change and build school and/or district level advocates by effectively sharing student outcome data and program impact
Support site retention and recruitment, including but not limited to participating in informational sessions for site applicants
Co-facilitate new site onboarding with colleagues at new schools to educate teachers and staff about the model and the program impact, outline expectations and define roles, as needed
Member Retention and Engagement
Support Member retention, striving to reach 100% for the assigned cohort during the service year.

Activities may include, but are not limited to providing individualized equitable support, assisting with member accommodation plans, collaborating with program colleagues on engagement activities such as Corps Days and Days of Service.

Support Member recruitment and retention, including but not limited to participating in informational sessions for new tutors and applicants, supporting the member accommodation process, participating in tutor interviews alongside recruiters, and participating in community outreach activities
Support new member onboarding, including but not limited to presenting Reading Corps and Math Corps programs and supporting member training
Secondary Functions
Support and participate in various program working groups, such as Site Engagement, Service Experience and/or Talent Acquisition
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree and licensure in education, educational psychology, special education or a related field or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in primary or secondary educational settings, including an understanding of how schools allocate resources and roles typically filled by school staff.

Interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships, solve problems, and mediate conflict.
Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and cultural competency.
Commitment to supporting all members and service recipients enrolled in our programs.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Commitment to develop

equity skills and cultural competence of self and others.
Knowledge of and experience

in

literacy or numeracy data and assessments to inform instructional programming, such as using general outcomes measures and curriculum-based measurement.

Exceptional relationship building and consultation skills related to assessment and intervention, including the ability to model; observe and provide corrective feedback; ask questions to solve challenges; exercise sound judgment; communicate effectively with individuals, teams, and administrators.

Knowledge of and experience in working within Multi-tiered Systems of Support or other data-based decision-making models to support students.
Experience facilitating adult learners through training, coaching, supervision, and observation.
Success navigating situations that require high emotional intelligence, with an emphasis on self-awareness.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
Committed to results for students and constant drive to improve student outcomes equitably.
Experience working in the area of social justice .

Preferred qualification:
Elementary teaching license, held for at least three years, may be current or expired.

Preferred qualification:
Minimum of three years as a teacher of record.

Travel locally, statewide, and to Minneapolis, MN as needed to attend meetings
