Qualifications

LCSW:

  • Possess a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) or equivalent degree from a graduate school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Maintain a current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice social work in any of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • A minimum of two (2) years CURRENT experience (post issuance of clinical licensure) in independent practice of clinical social work in a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding delivery of clinical social work services. Must have experience in brief behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain either a Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as certified by the American Heart Association.

LPC:

  • Possess a Master's degree or higher-level degree from a mental health counseling program accredited for Mental Health Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
  • Post-Master's degree counseling practice qualifying for independent licensure. Two (2) years of post-graduate experience in various modalities to provide treatment/counseling.
  • Passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) or equivalent.
  • Maintain a current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain either a Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.

LMFT:

  • Possess a Master's or Doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from an accredited program.
  • Maintain a current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain either a Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as certified by the American Heart Association.

Required Skills/Training

  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental policies.
  • Compliance with Quality Assurance policies.
  • Regular and acceptable attendance.
  • Completion of all required training.
  • Performance of other assignments and duties, as necessary.

Desired Experience, Skills, or Training

  • Prior military and/or SOF experience.
  • Experience in a Government setting like DOD or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
  • Prior experience in Substance Abuse/Disorder Treatment.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.

Specific Requirements

  • Performance under this contract may require staff to ride on various vehicles utilized by special operation units.
  • Production of papers, reports related to subject matter expertise for publication.

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Counselors (MHC) will function as Behavioral Health Care Providers within an operational unit. Responsible for policies implementation, screenings, clinical counseling, case management, and prevention programming. Serve as the point of contact for behavioral health services for Special Operations personnel, retired military members, and families. Provide a range of interventions including individual, family, and group therapy, and substance abuse treatment evaluations. Collaborate with medical personnel, legal authorities, and maintain accurate records.

Plan, develop, and implement programs to enhance healthy relationships within families and unit connectedness. Evaluate community resources for service utilization. Conduct reviews of treatment plans and effectiveness, and maintain communication with various stakeholders.

Scope

USSOCOM focuses on preserving and growing readiness and strengthening the force and families of Special Operations Forces. The POTFF program aims to improve the well-being of SOF warriors and families through a holistic approach. Programs address cognitive, physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and family domains.
