OVERVIEW:

Shelter Church currently meets at Laurel Park Elementary School (2450 Laura Duncan Road) on the border of Cary and Apex and is seeking a qualified Worship Director.

The Worship Director will begin as a part-time contract position with approximately 10-15 hours per week.

But, contingent upon exemplary leadership, initiative, qualifications, and alignment with the listed responsibilities, this position may expand to a full-time position with additional roles and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Member in good standing at Shelter Church or pursue membership within 90 days
• Meet the qualifications of a deacon found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13
• Personal commitment to seeing Jesus' mission fulfilled through the local church
• Humble commitment to continually learn, grow, and improve as a servant leader
• Desire to lead other men, women, and teams
• Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities as appropriate
• Commitment to excellence and attention to detail

• Experience (or ability to learn) Planning Center
• Experience (or ability to learn) Pro-Presenter
• Experience leading worship (within or outside of Shelter Church)
• Experience developing liturgical elements for a Sunday worship gathering
• Shared philosophy of corporate worship and methodology with the church's elders
• Ability to lead both vocally and instrumentally

Desired, but not required:

• Experience with original song writing or a desire to explore
• Actively engaged with the music scene in western Wake County

ROLES &

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and lead all band leaders and band members
• Develop and lead the Audio, Visual, and Service Director ministry team leaders
• Ensure the worship band is scheduled and prepared for all Sunday services
• Play in the worship band at least 3 times per month, lead at least 2 times per month
• Rehearse individually to grow as a musician and prepare for rehearsals and Sundays
• Rehearse speaking parts to the point of comfortable, clear, consistent speaking
• Help with setup and run rehearsals before service on Sunday mornings
• Create worship slide deck each week in Pro-Presenter
• Choose worship songs each week when leading
• Collaborate with the lead pastor to create liturgical elements each week
• Attend direct report meetings with the lead pastor (frequency TBD)
• Develop a process for adding new worship songs to the church's rotation
• Build, track, and manage the budget associated with Worship and Audio / Visual
• Help develop Special Events outside of Sunday worship service
• Spend time in regular prayer and reading of Scripture

Desired, but not required contingent upon conversation with the lead pastor:

• Attend staff meetings as schedule allows (see "Schedule" below)

STRUCTURE:
Shelter Church operates with a team approach amongst its elders, staff, and ministry teams.

Initially, the Worship Director will share responsibilities with current lay band leaders as he or she learns about the church's worship culture while also gaining experience playing, leading, and performing liturgy on Sunday mornings.

Over time, the Worship Director will receive more responsibilities, but the desire is that this role will continue to lead from a team approach with other lay members.

The roles and responsibilities listed in this document may change throughout various seasons of the church.

The Worship Director will report directly to the lead pastor.

SCHEDULE:
The work schedule is flexible as long as tasks for regular roles and responsibilities are completed on time. Hours spent at Sunday services will be considered work hours. Attending staff meetings will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
