Skycap Job Description
As a valued member of the Prospect team, you will:

  • Meet and greet outbound passengers at the terminal entrance.
  • Check in outbound passengers and issue boarding passes.
  • Determine passenger service needs and escort passengers and baggage to checkin position.
  • Direct passengers directly to the gate, input checked bags into the baggage system, and collect applicable fees.
  • Verify passenger identification per TSA Checked Baggage acceptance rules.
  • Provide bag handling and (electronic) bag tagging and boarding pass issuance services for outbound airline passengers at the airport, at curbside locations, interior ticket counters/checkin locations.
  • Monitor baggage weight, process checked luggage, collect bags charges, and affix appropriate bag tags.
  • Monitor carryon baggage to ensure compliance with airline regulations.
  • Load outbound bags onto appropriate conveyor systems, ensuring bags are never left unattended.
  • Provide general information to passengers, give directions and flight information.
  • If applicable, provide wheelchair and other special assistance to customers between gates and ticket counters.
  • Provide special service to accommodate group baggage upon the request of local management.
  • Be certified and enforced in the hazmat/dangerous goods program of the customer airline(s) concerning checked baggage (Ecigarettes or spare lithium batteries in the checkedin bag).
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance at the job location.
  • Meet Prospect Airport Services customer service and safety standards.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

Language Ability:


Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as passenger identification and immigration documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Reasoning Ability:

Computer Skills:


Ability to operate computerized scales and computer check-in systems in order to locate airline reservations, check-in passengers, and ensure proper generation of baggage tags and boarding passes.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Much of the work is in an outside environment with exposure to cold and hot temperatures
and inclement weather.

Physical Demands:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Continuously stand and walk for 6-8 hours.

  • Repeatedly lift to 70 pounds:
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy bags.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, squat & reach out with arms, or legs.
  • Must be able to lift bags high enough to transport luggage.
  • Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by the terminal environment.
Shift 03:30am-09:00am weekends required
